At Treatt, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s at the core of how we operate. As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact, we’re thrilled to announce the installation of a new solar photovoltaic (PV) panel system at our European headquarters. This investment represents a significant step in our journey towards Net Zero and demonstrates how businesses can take meaningful action to combat climate change.
Treatt’s Commitment to Sustainability: A Greener Future with On-Site Solar Energy

Harnessing the Power of the Sun
Covering the entire roof of our facility, the newly installed solar PV system is expected to generate an impressive 650,000 kWh of clean energy annually. This will supply approximately 25% of our UK electricity demand, significantly reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Most notably, this shift will result in a carbon savings of 97 tonnes per year—equivalent to removing around 21 cars from the road annually.
David Shannon, CEO of Treatt, shared his thoughts on this milestone:“With sustainability embedded within the business, we are collectively working towards our Net Zero ambitions for 2050, to which this new solar installation plays a key part. This investment is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental impact and operate more sustainably while delighting our customers worldwide.”
A Facility Designed for Sustainability
Our purpose-built headquarters, which opened in 2021, was designed with sustainability in mind. The facility holds a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, underscoring its positive environmental and social impact. From its state-of-the-art HVAC system to smart building management technology, every element was chosen to enhance energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.
Additionally, our facility features:
- Eco-friendly lighting solutions
- High thermal efficiency materials
By integrating renewable energy with these sustainable design elements, we continue to drive progress toward a greener future.
Driving Industry-Wide Change
Sustainability isn’t a solo effort. Our Global Sustainability Manager, Katie Severn, highlights the broader impact of our initiatives: “At our new facility, we're achieving significant energy efficiencies, reducing our Scope 1 emissions by 52% compared to our previous site. As we grow, our commitment to green energy ensures we’re minimizing our environmental impact while helping our customers achieve their own carbon reduction goals. By working together, we can drive meaningful progress in reducing emissions and accelerating decarbonization across our industry.”
This £650,000 investment is just one of over 30 sustainability-driven projects planned across Treatt’s global operations. With a goal to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030, we’re taking actionable steps to make a lasting difference.

Partnering with 3ti, experts in renewable energy solutions, has enabled us to implement this solar initiative seamlessly.
