Introducing our new Botanical Concentrates

blog headline

Demand for beverages that support a healthy lifestyle continues to gain traction across all beverage categories. We've highlighted the key trends with which our new Botanical Concentrates align.

Health connotations

Health and wellness are now fundamental purchase drivers across many consumer cohorts. Botanical ingredients are applied in functional beverages to align with energy, hydration, immunity and other wellbeing claims. They are also linked with trending health areas such as gut microbiome, immune health, ingestible beauty or weight and blood sugar control.

Chamomile is most commonly used in beverages as a soothing and relaxing herbal tea, particularly popular for its potential to promote better sleep and reduce anxiety.

Hibiscus tea is associated with several potential health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol levels, supporting liver health and boosting the immune system.

There are several functional benefits of turmeric in beverages as it contains curcumin, a compound with potent anti-inflammatory properties that can alleviate joint pain. Turmeric's antioxidants can help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. It can also help soothe digestive issues and improve gut health.

Natural appeal

There is a continued interest in naturalness in food, drink and supplements, with growth in this sector being driven mainly by the health-conscious consumer. Botanical ingredients are increasingly being seen in food and beverage innovation for their natural properties. Botanical flavours can also offer new, less-sweet and sophisticated taste experiences for perceived premium appeal.

The botanicals market

The botanicals beverage market is dominated by APAC, with China commanding 62% of the total herbs and spices flavour market. In 2023, the herbs and spices beverage market in China was valued at $15bn, largely due to the trend for natural gaining traction. North America and Europe are smaller markets valued at around $2bn.

The continued and rising success of these beverage base botanical products, unique to Treatt’s portfolio, can be seen in various RTD applications, including iced tea, hard tea and tea lemonades. They are also applied to kombuchas, flavoured waters and alcoholic beverages.

We are pleased to introduce three new Botanical Concentrate bases to our innovative portfolio.

Our new chamomile, hibiscus, and turmeric Botanical Concentrates are delivered in an easy-to-use concentrated liquid format, allowing for easy dilution in a variety of beverage applications.
