The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the operation of Manufacturing supporting the shift manager with the day-to-day management of the manufacturing area, ensuring an efficient operation. Monitoring any issues, ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer while ensuring a safe and an efficient operation.

What you’ll be doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• To report accurately and effectively on the daily progress of production including any delays and their causes to the Shift Manager, so that adequate decisions can be made to minimize effects on customer deliveries, production efficiency and future production planning.
• Communicating with the Shift manager and other support functions to ensure the plan is followed and thus ensuring communication between all the relevant departments are in line with achieving the weekly plan OTIF.
• Organizing & Preparing workloads for every operator and ensure minimum 95% labor utilization.
• Investigate and find the root cause of all Complaints, CAPA’s as well as the 5 whys and actions.
• Yield analysis to ensure the yields are met and the corrective actions are taken for low yielding products.
• Review and update run sheets and forms to ensure proper completion.
• Complete a comprehensive written shift report and verbally hand over to ensure safe, efficient running of all processes.
• Maintain high standards of GMP & BRC compliance in all aspects of production.
• Monitoring team performance and working with Shift Manager to address poor performance where required.
• Execution of training plan and ensure operators are competent according to the requirements of their assessment and ensure training gaps are identified through the process.
• Assist with ensuring SOP’s and cleaning procedures are relevant and up to date. Make small changes if required and report major deviations to manager.
• Look at distillation processes and maximum yields are achieved with efficient processing.
• Maintain site security out of hours and ensure that all building are locked, and any problems reported to shift manager.
• Compete accident and Incident investigation and ensure report is written with recommendations submitted to Shift Manager
• Contribute to a good approach to Food Hygiene, HACCP and Quality and ensure all relevant regulations are met.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work with all operators on all shifts
• Demonstrate ability to work cross functionally with quality, safety, and management team members
• Contribute to an excellent safety culture in general and specifically with regard to manual handling, Vehicle / Pedestrian safety, PPE and Accident / incident reporting.

Education & Training

• Educated to a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED)
• Team Leading and/or Trainer qualifications would be a distinct advantage.

Knowledge & Experience

• A can-do attitude with a pro-active hands-on approach to all tasks.
• Previous experience of team leading within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to lead and motivate others.
• Be self-motivated.
• Hold strong relationship building skills.
• The ideal candidate will hold an understanding of BRC and Customer Quality Standards .
• Previous experience of working within a LEAN environment is advantageous.
• A good understanding and experience of using MS office and systems in which we operate (JDE, STARS, Teams, EXCEL).
